Bomo is a powerful mercenary and bodyguard who operates with the Sledge as part of Princess Donut's protective force during Faction Wars. The pair staff defensive positions, fire the coalition's remaining missiles, and guard the Nest tower. Lucia Mar destroys Bomo's Ninth Floor body during the final crisis. Because he is a contracted mercenary, he is expected to regenerate on the Tenth Floor, but the Princess Posse no longer holds his contract and his later location is unconfirmed. Bomo and the Sledge function as a matched security team. Other characters refer to them as best friends, and Donut treats both as more than hired equipment. Their size and endurance make them suited to tower defense, missile support, and positions where ordinary crawlers would be rapidly overwhelmed. The pair serve as bodyguards and military assets for Donut's side. The relationship begins within the crawl's contract system, which classifies mercenaries by ownership and transfer rules. Repeated shared danger produces personal loyalty, complicating the idea that a contract fully explains why Bomo continues to protect the party. Bomo, Toyotomi, and the defending mages try to stop her and are cut apart by a spell. The interface labels Bomo a deceased mercenary, while Toyotomi is treated as permanently dead. Donut and the Sledge grieve Bomo's destruction even after learning that contract rules may permit a return. Carl is told that Bomo should regenerate on the Tenth Floor. The coalition has lost the relevant contract, however, so the revival would not automatically return him to Donut or reunite him with Sledge.
