Odette

Odette is a former crawler, intergalactic media personality, host of Dungeon Crawler After Hours, and Mordecai's former manager. Her history with Mordecai includes survival, betrayal, and the death of his brother Uzzi. During the Earth season she becomes an interviewer, sponsor-linked power broker, and participant in the Celestial Ascendency, using public advocacy for crawlers while pursuing objectives that remain partly hidden. Odette survives a previous edition of Dungeon Crawler World and understands both the internal rules and outside entertainment market. She works with Mordecai and his brother Uzzi, then makes a decision that preserves Mordecai while contributing to Uzzi's death. The choice enables her later career but leaves Mordecai trapped in service and unwilling to forgive her. After leaving the dungeon, Odette builds one of the crawl's most influential interview programs. Her insect-like presentation, elaborate studio, and access to footage let her shape public narratives around contestants. She can challenge Borant's framing, but her show still profits from the same coercive spectacle that produces its guests. Odette interviews Carl and Donut repeatedly, sometimes offering practical help and sometimes manipulating their emotions for a segment. She recognizes their political value before many sponsors do. Donut enjoys the attention but learns to negotiate appearances, while Carl treats every invitation as both a possible resource and an attempt to control the story. Odette's relationship with Mordecai is the emotional center of her biography. She offers explanations and attempts at repair, but cannot undo Uzzi's death or the years Mordecai spends as a guide. Her claim that she made the only survivable choice remains contested by the person who paid most of its cost. Odette sponsors, represents, or becomes linked to a divine participant in the Celestial Ascendency and enters the late-series political struggle. Book 8 places her among actors preparing for the deeper-floor crisis rather than treating her solely as a television host. She remains alive, influential, and personally entangled with Mordecai and the Earth crawlers.
