Chapter 26 of The Gate of the Feral Gods belongs to the lusca special-event introduction sequence on the Fifth Floor. It combines a discrete survival problem with the evolving Gate, bubble, divine, and crawler-coordination storylines. A massive creature has seized the Akula at fifteen hundred meters below the surface. Katia cannot escape outside, Quetzalcoatlus has killed the changeling principals in the bridge, and Carl's team has no route that can outrun a city-scale predator. They must recover Henrik's body and the final Gate watch before the vessel is destroyed. Carl, Tran, Vadim, and Katia converge on the bridge while the submarine is dragged to the bubble floor. Carl identifies Henrik and six other changelings among the corpses and stores Henrik's body. The world freezes as litigation places three Gate components under administrative review. After the court lock resolves, Carl reads a torn page explaining Wailing Shriekers, flesh-giving effects, exorcism, and electric vulnerability. He directs the others to loot the remaining bodies and move toward the last escape-hatch room. A live broadcast window opens with Kevin and Magnificent Troy, who announce Lusca as the special-event city boss. Lusca bites the Akula in half, leaving the surviving section inside her mouth with a ten-minute timer and thousands of juvenile octo-sharks. Carl prioritizes Henrik's corpse over immediate retreat because it contains the watch and changeling information. He accepts administrative delay rather than surrendering the disputed artifacts. After learning that Quetzalcoatlus killed the changelings, he recognizes that their attempt to give the ghost flesh was an improvised backup to the lost Wynne plan. The team chooses the stairwell-side section of the submarine as the only defensible space once escape pods become unreliable. A crawler can place an entire lootable corpse into inventory if able to lift it. Syndicate litigation can freeze the world and lock specific inventory items, but the System AI adjudicates whether they remain available. Wailing Shriekers are intelligent, jealous, noncorporeal ghosts that can be neutralized by exorcism, destruction of a lover's corpse, banishment, electricity, or a flesh-giving spell. Special events create subscriber broadcasts, commentator overlays, new boss presentation rules, and timed survival conditions. Lusca's bite separates the Akula. Carl, Katia, Tran, and Vadim are trapped inside the creature's mouth as juvenile octo-sharks begin consuming the vessel. The timer shows ten minutes. Henrik and the Gate watch are secured, but reaching a stairwell now requires escaping both the submarine and the boss. The completed Gate becomes available during the next chapter, creating a tempting but dangerous exit. The live-event format exposes the party's tactics to an enormous audience. The torn page provides the key to Quetzalcoatlus, while Henrik's death transforms Juice Box's objective and advances her awakening to the repeated nature of the dungeon. Carl, Katia Grim, Tran, Vadim Zbar, Henrik, six changeling principals, Quetzalcoatlus, Lusca, Kevin, Magnificent Troy, Shamus Chaindrive by remains, and the System AI appear or are discussed.
