Chapter 6 of The Gate of the Feral Gods continues the Fifth Floor campaign in bubble 543. The chapter combines immediate survival work with new evidence about the bubble's overlapping castle stories. Its ending changes the party's next objective rather than functioning as an isolated encounter. The party must identify and free the gnomish collateral hidden beneath Hump Town without provoking the dromedarian guards or losing the final hours before the bombing deadline. The Town Hall is protected by level 48 Waster Patrol guards, shift changes, locked rooms, and a subterranean boundary the Air Quadrant team cannot legally cross. Carl combines Katia's surveillance, Donut's Hole spell, smoke, small sparkler explosives, and Louis's Cloud to enter the building. The unconscious guards reveal changeling bodies, confirming an infiltration. Below the offices, the party finds Wynne, a level 50 Dirigible Gnome Flesh Mechanic, imprisoned near the boundary to the Subterranean Quadrant. The system assigns Free Wynne from his bondage. Before Carl can control the scene, Low Thi raises a spear and kills Wynne while trying to reach the map beyond him. Carl chooses infiltration because a direct assault would kill guards who may be refugees, changelings, or coerced participants. He repeatedly orders the other crawlers not to kill Wynne, recognizing that the hostage is the only protection Hump Town has from the Wasteland. Low Thi instead prioritizes access to the map and assumes the gnome is an obstacle, turning a rescue into a catastrophic failure. Hole can bypass a locked surface without destroying an entire wall. Cloud has a shorter duration against stronger enemies, making timing essential. The captured guards prove that changelings have replaced members of the patrol. Wynne's Flesh Mechanic role and old gnome history connect resurrection, bodily transformation, and the deeper necropolis story. Wynne dies, the rescue quest fails, and the system mocks Carl with Total, Utter Failure. Hump Town can no longer provide its required daily proof of collateral. The Subterranean crawlers still want the map, but the Air Quadrant team now has to escape the building and prevent a gnomish bombardment that should begin after the missed confirmation. The death forces Carl to devise a false-proof plan using Katia, Second Chance, and changeling remains. It also exposes the moral danger of fragmented coordination: Low Thi solves the problem visible to his own team while endangering everyone above. Wynne's abilities remain important because Juice Box's people needed him for Quetzalcoatlus. Carl, Donut, Katia, Louis, Firas, Low Thi, Wynne, Mordecai, Gwen, and the dromedarian and changeling guards appear or communicate. The Town Hall basement, Waster Patrol, Free Wynne quest, Flesh Mechanic class, and Subterranean boundary are introduced or clarified.
