King Rust

King Rust is the ruler of the Skull Empire, father of Stalwart, Formidable, and the Maestro, and the Skull Empire warlord during the Ninth Floor Faction Wars. Rosetta Thagra kills him in revenge for a death he caused during an earlier season. Rust heads the orc dynasty whose children repeatedly interfere with the Earth crawl. Stalwart is crown prince, Formidable is next in succession under changing circumstances, and the Maestro is disowned before his death. Queen Consort Ugloo is also part of the family's public and dungeon history. The family's actions mix state policy, entertainment, succession, and personal vengeance. As king, Rust uses the Skull Empire's council influence and safe-harbor policies to protect wealthy financial actors. His veto helps block an extradition request involving Harry Tisch, whose investments become increasingly important to the orc economy. Rust's state power therefore extends beyond military spectacle into interstellar finance. Rust enters the Ninth Floor as a large, aging orc mounted on a swamp yak. Feathered armor makes him look even larger, though Carl sees exhaustion beneath the presentation. He has strong battlefield magic, including a high Tripper level that can detonate or neutralize prepared traps, and commands armored forces against the crawler coalition. Rosetta Thagra kills Rust and loots him after confronting the Skull Empire. Her action is revenge for a friend Rust killed during Faction Wars many cycles earlier. Carl later possesses Rust's severed head in inventory. The System AI confirms the death while confronting Princess Formidable. Rust's death makes Stalwart king and shifts Formidable's place in the succession behind Stalwart's children. It also destabilizes holdings connected to the Skull Empire. Rosetta describes the looting as reclamation, while acknowledging that damage to one elite can enrich another investor. Rust's death therefore changes both the battlefield and outside balance sheets.
