Juice Box

Juice Box is an exceptionally powerful changeling first encountered as a sex worker in Hump Town on the Fifth Floor. Her apparent supporting role conceals loyalty to an infiltrated changeling community and a plan involving her brother Henrik, the ghost Quetzalcoatlus, and the Gate of the Feral Gods. After awakening to the artificial nature of the dungeon, she becomes a revolutionary leader, mayor of Shanty Town, and warlord of Team Retribution alongside Ferdinand. Juice Box works in the Spit and Swallow and other Air Quadrant establishments. She can change forms far more quickly and precisely than an ordinary crawler who selects the changeling race. Unlike Katia's doppelganger transformations, Juice Box's shifts can reproduce selected racial abilities. Mordecai recognizes that this makes her dangerous even before Carl understands her political role. Henrik is Juice Box's brother. Changelings have infiltrated Hump Town because they need Wynne to make the ghost Quetzalcoatlus temporarily physical, allowing Henrik to touch the entity and add its rare form to their communal library. The plan is motivated by generational defects in the changeling population and the hope that Quetzalcoatlus can alter the plants or biology sustaining them. Carl exposes part of the infiltration but chooses negotiation over extermination. The Squeeze out the Juice Box quest saves her siblings from gnomish bombardment and produces a durable alliance. Juice Box cares for Bonnie after the death of Commandant Kane, helps the party understand the Gate, and demonstrates that NPC goals remain meaningful even when the system labels them as entertainment. Later floors make Juice Box fully aware of the repeating crawl and its exploitation of NPCs. She organizes awakened figures, adopts the mayoral role in Shanty Town, and enters Faction Wars as a warlord. Her transformations allow infiltration of councils, battlefield deception, rescue, and assassination. She and Ferdinand lead Team Retribution while cooperating with the Princess Posse against sponsor armies. Juice Box leaves the Ninth Floor under transfer rules with Ferdinand, allowing the Princess Posse to satisfy victory conditions. Book 8 references her as an active awakened NPC whose precise location is not publicly known. She remains alive at latest confirmation and represents the shift from locally scripted character to autonomous political actor.
