Clarabelle is a crocodilian NPC who serves as the bouncer, concierge, and gatekeeper at the Desperado Club's entrance vestibule. She enforces changing access rules, sells security services, and becomes an informal source on the club's condition across multiple floors. Clarabelle controls the threshold rather than the entertainment inside. She checks eligibility, explains floor-specific access rules, identifies banned patrons, and sells protection. Her position gives her institutional memory even when ownership, staff, and physical sections of the club change. Clarabelle offers one bodyguard for 300 and two for 500. Donut's charm does not override the transaction. When discussing a refund, Clarabelle quotes 400 despite having received 500, and Carl recognizes that she has kept part of the payment. The small deception establishes her as practical and self-interested rather than a neutral menu interface. She knows that Lucia Mar is banned for life and recognizes prominent crawlers such as Hekla and Elle. On the Hunting Grounds level she explains restrictions involving a full player-killer bar, the Cosmic Lounge, trapped lower club levels, clogged drains, sharks, and weapons brokers unable to reach hunters. Her commentary converts environmental chaos into usable access information. Clarabelle expects trouble whenever Carl arrives. Her remarks mix irritation, admiration, and self-preservation. She acknowledges that many club workers are rooting for the crawlers after they disrupt outside plans. Donut's celebrity and charm do not remove Clarabelle's authority at the door. After the demon crisis, surviving cretin and sai guards are airlocked and sent to mercenary markets. Clarabelle retains her job under a new, security-conscious boss. She tells Carl that the new occupant is protected by figures who are neither ordinary NPCs nor straightforward former crawlers. She refuses access because her employment depends on following the order. Carl later greets Clarabelle with relief because he had feared she died. She is alive at that encounter. In a later visit the entrance position is unoccupied amid the mimic infestation, and Carl and Imani leave a note inviting survivors toward Safehome Yolanda. Absence from the desk is not proof of death. Her status remains alive at the latest confirmed appearance, with her condition after leaving the post unresolved.
