Chapter 28 of The Gate of the Feral Gods belongs to the post-lusca rewards and orthrus crisis sequence on the Fifth Floor. It combines a discrete survival problem with the evolving Gate, bubble, divine, and crawler-coordination storylines. Bubble 543 is shaking after the Gate release, but the party does not yet know what emerged. Carl must review time-sensitive rewards, assess Juice Box's reaction to Henrik's death, and determine whether the released creature threatens the safe rooms, the final castle, or nearby bubbles. Inside the personal space, Carl observes Juice Box caring for changeling children and displaying memories from earlier NPC roles. He opens achievements for the deep dive, seven successful court defenses, special-event participation, survival inside Lusca, and a low-participant city-boss kill. Rewards include court stock certificates and maternal photographs of the plaintiffs, a Ring of Water Breathing, Drakea's Enchanted Kerchief of Disorder, the Enchanted Anarchist's Battle Rattle, an Earth upgrade patch, Tripper, and Remote Detonator. Outside messages reveal that the released being is enormous and endangering multiple worlds. Tserendolgor reports that a giant figure has mistaken her for Orthrus. Carl concludes the real guardian must be reunited with the being searching for him before the lightning storm begins. Carl opens the boxes before leaving safety because the fan reward has a voting timer and the gear may determine whether the next plan is possible. He suppresses recognition of Drakea in front of Mordecai to protect the Cookbook secret. The group treats Juice Box gently because awakening memories may destabilize her. When trapped crawlers request help, Carl accepts responsibility for the released entity and chooses to finish bubble 543 quickly rather than fleeing down a stairwell. Court victories can award repeatable achievements and physical shares in plaintiff organizations. A Ring of Water Breathing creates gills and a Charisma penalty. Patch jackets gain base-stat improvements from compatible patches and can host many future upgrades. Tripper triggers nearby traps without disarming them. Remote Detonator designates explosives without physical pus or wire triggers. Feral gods may draw corresponding ordinary gods or related creatures across the space between bubbles. Carl has new high-tier equipment, the Gate, and a plan forming around the lightning window. Tserendolgor and roughly 160 crawlers remain trapped in a heating bubble. Orthrus is somewhere inside bubble 543, while Emberus or another divine figure searches outside. Less than an hour remains before lightning, forcing the party to move immediately. Remote Detonator and the Battle Rattle become defining parts of Carl's build. Juice Box's recovered memories advance her from local NPC to self-aware ally. The divine confusion produces the Where the Red God Glows group quest, while the plight of nearby crawlers gives Carl evidence that the Gate can break bubbles and serve as a rescue tool. Carl, Princess Donut, Mordecai, Katia Grim, Tran, Gwen, Juice Box, Ruby, Britney, Henrik by memory, Drakea by item attribution, Tserendolgor, Orthrus, Emberus, and the System AI appear or are discussed.
