Chapter 9 of The Gate of the Feral Gods continues the Fifth Floor campaign in bubble 543. The chapter combines immediate survival work with new evidence about the bubble's overlapping castle stories. Its ending changes the party's next objective rather than functioning as an isolated encounter. Carl must kill Ruckus without exposing the party to the boss's enormous chainsaw weapon or attracting the entire Wasteland fleet. The missile test also needs to prove that the improvised guidance and second-stage propulsion can reach a high, fast-moving target. Failure would leave both the Land Quadrant and Hump Town without an effective anti-air answer. Donut steals Skarn's farseer so the party can track the sky. Outside the city they assemble the Royal Chariot, examine Ruckus, and learn a revised history connecting the four quadrant stories to Anser's tomb and the Gate of the Feral Gods. The System AI pauses activity while adjusting the boss description, then removes an earlier minion designation. Carl fires the experimental missile, Katia drives, and the team uses additional attacks to bring Ruckus down while avoiding the still-spinning saw. Carl steals the telescope because the deadline outweighs Skarn's small business, but he tries to move the child toward a safer shelter. The party chooses a distant engagement and a moving platform rather than a conventional boss fight. After the kill, Carl considers how to salvage the giant saw, turning a hazard into equipment for the next castle assault. Ruckus is a level 55 borough boss whose history changes when the AI incorporates the Gate artifact into the scenario. Boss descriptions can therefore be revised during play as the AI reconciles story and loot. The guided missile's two-stage design extends range, while Katia's driver skills and transformed eyes allow her to maintain control under aerial attack. Ruckus dies, the field guide is secured, and the party survives the falling chainsaw. Immediately afterward, the Water Quadrant is liberated when the Bridge of the Akula is occupied. The bubble rumbles as the environmental state changes, confirming that another team has completed its castle while Carl's group was fighting. The Land Quadrant can now proceed without constant attacks from Ruckus. The field guide reveals local enemies, and the saw becomes a potential siege tool. The first explicit Gate of the Feral Gods reference connects the bubble's treasure-hunter history to an artifact chosen by the AI. Water liberation begins the sequence of cross-quadrant environmental consequences. Carl, Donut, Katia, Mongo, Skarn, Mordecai, Gwen, Juice Box, and the Water Quadrant crawlers appear or communicate. Ruckus, the Bridge of the Akula, Gate of the Feral Gods, gnomish farseer, field guide, and salvaged chainsaw are central entities.
