Agatha, initially known as Agatha with the Shopping Cart, is a crawler associated with Meadow Lark and later identified as Agatha the Residual. Her apparent homelessness, cart, and low-level presentation conceal advanced equipment and an Outside Intelligence agenda. She becomes a War Mage adversary during Faction Wars and disappears before Book 8, leaving her location and immediate plan unknown. Agatha helps elderly residents enter the dungeon by using her shopping cart to create a ramp. She refuses to integrate fully with the caregiver team but joins the Ball of Swine fight and descends independently. Her erratic behavior makes her easy for the production and other crawlers to dismiss. Determine Value later reveals that the cart once contained Valtay equipment, including an inter-tunnel communications relay, personal shield, and pulse pistol. Agatha kills Brindle Grubs by running them over, avoids ordinary recap story, and appears during feed outages. These clues establish outside access rather than ordinary scavenging. Book 8 identifies Agatha as a Residual, an agent or fragment associated with the ancient Security Guard intelligence connected to the Eulogist. Residuals are Outside Intelligences rather than standard biological crawlers. Her human body and crawler interface therefore conceal a larger nonhuman allegiance. Agatha operates alongside War Mages while remaining in conflict with them. She seeks old forces, hidden structures, or entities within Larracos and the deeper dungeon. Akuma's group locates the Scavenger's Daughter, leaves the realm, and sends Carl an instruction to kill Agatha. Agatha leaves when the War Mages depart and is not located during the Tenth or Eleventh Floor events. Carl hopes she is dead but explicitly recognizes that she merely disappeared. Later Ascendency material lists Agatha the Residual as an active possible Outside Intelligence participant. Her correct status is missing and presumed alive.
