A later dungeon boss uses his likeness as one head of a multi-headed hydra. Carl knows Roth primarily through the practical relationship between tenant and landlord. Roth occupies the basement apartment and appears to live without close companionship. Carl later realizes how rarely he thought about the man despite their physical proximity. The memory becomes part of a wider reckoning with people erased before the dungeon begins. The collection destroys structures and kills almost everyone who remains indoors. Roth's basement residence places him among the dead.
