Lusca is a Fifth Floor city boss known as an octo-shark. She is an immense shark-like creature with tentacles and thousands of juvenile octo-shark minions living inside her mouth. Carl, Katia, and Tran kill her in the Water Quadrant by combining Protective Shell with Katia's giant buzzsaw. Lusca is building-sized, with a shark's jaws, a mass of tentacles, and a tiny brain relative to her body. She swims a repeated circuit around the Water Quadrant and can swallow a submarine. Her scale turns the interior of her mouth into its own navigable combat environment. A brood of two to three thousand juvenile octo-sharks inhabits her mouth. The young fight for food, and only one or two from a brood would ordinarily survive. When the party enters, the babies attack, consume one another, and retreat into slits in the roof of the mouth. The system identifies them as Lusca's minions. Carl's group confronts Lusca aboard the Akula while commentators Kevin and Magnificent Troy narrate. Improvised depth charges injure or redirect her but do not stop the boss. A damaged display window, low oxygen, water pressure, and the stairwell timer force the crawlers out of the submarine. Carl expects a stationary Protective Shell sphere to punch through Lusca as her forward motion carries her onto it. Instead, the barrier peels back her upper jaw and slams her toward the ocean floor. The violent stop ejects the crawlers through her mouth and changes the geometry of the attack. Katia activates a rocket and uses the giant Leatherface buzzsaw while carrying Carl and Tran. Their uncontrolled spin cleaves through Lusca's head and destroys her small brain. The system issues a Winner notice. The confirmed kill makes Lusca deceased even though the template or species could be reused in another season.
