Haxor the Destroyer is a level 50 Dreadnought merchant and unaffiliated hunter encountered on a restricted level of Club Vanquisher during the Sixth Floor. Carl kills Haxor in a restroom before the hunter can alert the guards. Haxor is about seven feet tall, extremely broad, and red-skinned, with two fist-sized horn stubs. His displayed profession is Merchant and his combat race or class is Dreadnought. Although unaffiliated, he holds hunter status and is therefore part of the outside population legally permitted to prey on Earth crawlers. Carl and Donut enter a club level from which crawlers are banned while trying to contact changelings. Haxor emerges from the men's restroom fastening his clothing and collides with Carl. Recognition is immediate, leaving no time for negotiation or concealment. Carl kicks Haxor in the groin, knocks him across the restroom, lands on his chest, and breaks his neck by pulling the horn stubs. The sequence is fast enough that guards do not register combat. Carl stores the body, cleans the blood, and covers the cracked sink. Haxor carries little conventional loot but possesses an interstellar credit chit. His unaffiliated status is notable because the Dreadnought Clan had already withdrawn from Faction Wars after its war chief's wife was injured. Haxor's presence shows that species, faction, profession, and hunter registration are separate categories. The scene compresses the Sixth Floor's moral and legal reversal into a private encounter. A wealthy outsider enters Earth to hunt contestants, but inside the club he briefly assumes he is safe and becomes the ambushed target. Carl acts to protect a rescue mission rather than for points, while still using lethal force without trial.
