Claude Sludgington the Fourth

Claude Sludgington the Fourth is a level 65 Borough Boss of the Eryops Gigantis species, also called a River Squatter or Mud Kato. He is pulled from the naiad confederate castle and unexpectedly teleported beside Carl, where his lightning attacks and rooted constitution make him difficult to move or kill. Claude is an enormous prehistoric amphibian, roughly eight feet tall and fifteen feet long, with a broad neckless body, stubby legs, and a damaged tail. He resembles a cross between a frog and a flattened alligator. His tongue can seize and swallow smaller creatures. The confederate government invites Claude to a paid fundraising ball intended to repair its castle. Other guests stay away because the kingdom is starving and the hosts are notoriously poor organizers. Claude arrives at the last moment and, true to the Eryops reputation, refuses to leave. Eryops receive a tenfold constitution bonus while rooted in place. Claude shoots branching lightning from his eyes and can absorb punishment while stationary. Carl's Extinction Sigil incorrectly treats the amphibian as a lizard-class mob, increasing the damage Claude inflicts on him. Samantha teleports Claude into the exterior conflict along with Holger, throwing nearby characters aside. Claude is disoriented but immediately fires lightning, swallows a bush elf, and attracts attacks from multiple participants. The absence of a formal music transition does not remove his borough boss status. Claude's encounter is resolved within the Sixth Floor sequence and he does not remain an active later character. The individual is treated as defeated, while the Eryops template may exist in other dungeon iterations.
