Cerberus is a divine canine figure referenced in the family and quest network surrounding Emberus, Geyrun, and Orthrus. The available record does not establish a direct Earth-season encounter sufficient to treat Cerberus as an ordinary floor boss. Cerberus is best understood as part of the dungeon's adapted divine mythology. The name is associated with a powerful multi-headed hound, but the series does not require every feature of the Earth myth to carry over unchanged. Interface evidence takes priority over mythological inference. The relevant storyline centers on Emberus's murdered son Geyrun and Geyrun's two-headed puppy Orthrus. Cerberus is referenced within this broader divine-dog context. Orthrus's owner is Geyrun, not Cerberus, and Samantha's confused remarks should not be used to rewrite that ownership. Carl's active obligation is to solve Geyrun's murder and return Orthrus. Cerberus is not confirmed as the killer, sponsor, or owner in that quest. The distinction prevents a familiar mythological name from becoming an unsupported solution. No confirmed death, summoning, sponsor identity, or later residence is supplied through Book 8. Cerberus remains an unresolved divine figure rather than being assigned abilities or a biography from outside mythology.
