Chapter 22 of The Gate of the Feral Gods belongs to the mrs. ghazi boss battle sequence on the Fifth Floor. It combines a discrete survival problem with the evolving Gate, bubble, divine, and crawler-coordination storylines. Mrs. Ghazi is climbing the basement stairs as a level 52 sand-ooze Borough Boss. Her core lies beneath a recliner in the laboratory, ordinary fire has already been smothered, strong explosives may collapse the castle, and the storm window is closing. Carl must reach the core without touching the ooze or trapping the party beneath shattered glass. Carl evaluates burn gel, boom jugs, and structural limits before choosing a vertical approach. Donut opens a Hole from the room above the laboratory. Katia anchors a heavy metal object and manages the rope while clockwork Mongos and thrown debris distract the spreading ooze. Carl activates his ceiling-walking effect, descends upside down, crosses above the creature, applies burn gel to the recliner, and ignites it. The boss retracts around its damaged core as Carl retreats, but heat destabilizes the ceiling. The room collapses, sand buries Carl, and Donut is swept into the destruction. A notification confirms the quadrant victory as water erupts through the damaged castle and carries them into the Water Quadrant. Carl rejects conventional explosives despite their damage because Ghazi warns that the glass basement cannot absorb a blast. He sends expendable clockwork replicas instead of Mongo and keeps Katia at the stairwell to coordinate the plan. When the roof begins to fail, he prioritizes reaching Donut over preserving loot or verifying a corpse. The solution is deliberately indirect: destroy the core's protection and let heat do the killing while Carl remains on the ceiling. Mrs. Ghazi moves more slowly when stretched across a larger area and protects a concentrated core. Burn gel produces heat ordinary sand cannot easily extinguish. Donut's Hole can pierce the narrow separation between floors, and ceiling adhesion has a strict timer and movement limitation. A boss can count as defeated even if some part of its mass survives. Castle liberation immediately changes quadrant boundaries and water flow, which can transport crawlers into territory they have not cleared. The sandcastle washes away, the Land Quadrant is liberated, and Carl surfaces in deep water carrying an unconscious Donut. The stairwell remains buried beneath the former castle site. A large predator moves below them among falling bodies, and Donut wakes to discover she is submerged in the environment she fears most. The victory begins Stage 4, the Necropolis of Anser, but it also strands the party in the Water Quadrant and leaves the boss box uncertain because Mrs. Ghazi may not be completely dead. Flooding changes access to the necropolis, kills many non-ghost mobs, and sets up the Akula expedition. The broken crystallization spell eventually restores the Lika head and other castle contents to non-glass form. Carl, Princess Donut, Katia Grim, clockwork Mongos, Ghazi, Mrs. Ghazi, Gwen, and the System AI appear. Concierge sharks and drowned Water Quadrant creatures enter the immediate aftermath.
