Chapter 20 of The Gate of the Feral Gods continues the Fifth Floor campaign in bubble 543. The chapter combines immediate survival work with new evidence about the bubble's overlapping castle stories. Its ending changes the party's next objective rather than functioning as an isolated encounter. Carl and Donut have less than five days before level collapse and must rejoin the Land Quadrant campaign. The captured flying house has been cut and modified into transport, but water and electrical lines are damaged. Gwen and Katia have reached the Mad Dune Mage's sandcastle and disagree over whether to use an easy flooding solution or preserve the winding box linked to the Gate. Louis and Firas bring the house to Hump Town, report crawler developments, and fly Carl and Donut toward the Land Quadrant. The party observes the changed water region, meets Gwen, reunites with Katia, and approaches the castle during the final storm before the weather pattern worsens. Katia explains that Ghazi transformed himself into the sand structure while searching for the Gate. Flooding would expose the stairwell but ruin any chance of recovering his winding box. Instead, the group connects electrical leads between towers, a drainage-wheel ring, and the magical door. Lightning strikes, the door vanishes, and a dark hallway opens. Katia has already developed both routes and prefers the safer flood plan, but waits because Zev insists Carl and Donut should decide. Carl accepts the hard route because the winding box may be essential to the Gate mystery. Gwen objects to risking lives for uncertain loot but allows the attempt under strict timing. Louis and Firas remain outside to stop an unauthorized flood and preserve an escape option. The castle is solid enchanted sand rather than a conventional building. Ghazi, the Mad Dune Mage, exists dispersed through that structure after becoming a sand elemental. The winding box is a Gate component. Lightning during the sandstorm can activate the door only for the storm window, while water pressure can destroy the castle and expose the buried stairwell by force. A lightning strike completes the circuit. The blue magical door disappears and is replaced by a physical hallway leading into darkness. The party has achieved entry through the hard route without yet capturing the throne room, recovering the winding box, or confronting Ghazi. The chapter begins the Mad Dune Mage dungeon sequence and preserves the possibility of assembling the Gate of the Feral Gods. It also establishes Gwen's difficult but productive working relationship with Katia and Carl. The narrowing storm window means the party must solve the interior immediately or accept the flood plan before the castle seals again. Carl, Donut, Katia, Mongo, Gwen, Louis, Firas, Langley, Vadim, Britney, Juice Box, Miriam Dom, Prepotente, Lucia Mar, Florin, and Ghazi appear or are discussed. The flying house, sandcastle, winding box, electrical towers, drainage ring, and storm-activated door drive the chapter.
