Bonnie is a young gnome NPC rescued from the Wasteland storyline and later integrated into the changeling community. She displays strong mechanical aptitude, modifies the Twister with a ballista system, and survives the Sixth and Ninth Floor crises before disappearing with the awakened NPC population. Bonnie is a small gnome child whose distress after the Wasteland crash remains one of Carl's recurring traumatic memories. She travels with Skarn, the changelings, and later the bear cubs. Her quiet behavior reflects repeated danger rather than an absence of intelligence. Bonnie takes apart automata and constructs weapons from available machinery. She modifies the Twister with a ballista system and operates it with Skarn during the assault on the high elf castle. Her work contributes directly to the rescue plan rather than serving as background decoration. Carl's allies must get Bonnie and the changelings into the castle before its transfer. Sledge reports on her safety while real mantises, changelings disguised as mantises, and elves fight across the towers. Prudence dies protecting children, while Bonnie and the cubs survive the immediate assault. Bonnie reaches the Ninth Floor with the relocated castle and becomes part of the NPC population protected by Carl's faction. Her presence helps justify choices that prioritize infrastructure and civilian survival over a simple stair rush. At the end of Faction Wars, awakened NPCs disappear from the playing field and are expected to reappear around the Twelfth Floor. Bonnie is not confirmed dead. Her status is alive but separated from Carl's Tenth Floor party.
