Radoslav is an awakened bugbear who races on the dungeon's tenth floor as a member of Team Free Love. He enters the competition with Jasha and Alevtina in a red minivan. Carl's examination identifies him as a level 75 Jack of All Trades. Unlike the carefree image suggested by the team's name and tie-dyed clothes, Radoslav knows that he and Jasha have been assigned different lives before. He races for a promised escape from that cycle, survives the death of Alevtina in the opening heat, and becomes an ally whom Carl eventually kills to keep his own team from elimination.
The first heat and Alevtina's death
Carl and Princess Donut first meet Radoslav beside Team Free Love's overturned van. A bug has knocked the vehicle over near the beginning of the first race, leaving its engine compartment burning. Carl supplies containers that produce water, and the two surviving bugbears try to put out the fire. Radoslav's arm catches alight during the effort before Jasha extinguishes it. By the time Carl examines him, Radoslav is sitting on the road, frightened and convinced that the team's race is already lost. The incident is more than a mechanical failure: Alevtina, who had been riding in the back, broke her neck in the crash.
Radoslav and Jasha smoke together beside the wreck. Radoslav says that he never thought they had a real chance, while Jasha remembers Alevtina's confidence that they might win. Their reactions separate the three teammates' hopes. Alevtina had believed in the prize; Radoslav had entered with much less faith in survival. He remains courteous to Carl and Donut, offering them cigarettes even as he grieves, but initially sees no practical way for anyone to help. The team must cross the finish line in its own van, and the damaged vehicle cannot simply drive there.
When Carl identifies himself and Donut as crawlers, Radoslav recognizes them as people from Earth rather than fellow NPC competitors. Jasha explains that the racers have been told victory will bring freedom: removal to a place where they will no longer have to fight. Neither bugbear presents this as an independently verified guarantee. The promised reward matters to Radoslav because he remembers enough of his earlier assignments to understand what another return to the dungeon's holding state would mean. His willingness to accept death if he loses is an expression of exhaustion with repeated reuse, not indifference to Alevtina's death.
Carl devises a way around the apparent end of their race. He and the others right the van, load it onto a makeshift flatbed, and chain the trailer to the food truck. Radoslav rides at the back of the truck, watching the unstable tow, while Jasha stays with the van. The arrangement works because the bugbears only need to be inside their own vehicle when it crosses the finish line. Radoslav therefore survives the same heat that kills Alevtina. Team Free Love finishes eighth, immediately ahead of the eliminated Trauco Triplets.
Before the crossing, Radoslav leaves the truck for the van and thanks Carl and Donut. He acknowledges that the next race may make them opponents, yet treats their help in this one as a real act of friendship. He intends to drink to Alevtina and to the possibility of a life she will never have. His gratitude does not erase his awareness of the competition's design. Donut asks Carl whether they will eventually have to kill the bugbears; Carl thinks they probably will.
Memories beyond his assigned life
Jasha's account of the team's past gives the clearest explanation of Radoslav's awakening. In a previous assignment in the slime mines, they killed a crawler who said that the dungeon was a game and that he wanted to go home. Radoslav asked what the crawler meant by home. According to Jasha, the answer triggered recognition: memories of earlier settings and identities returned, and the two bugbears understood that their apparent histories had been repeatedly changed. Jasha recalls being cast as Radoslav's brother, enemy, and, most often, cousin.
The places Jasha remembers include the slime mines, a submarine, and a rope city. Radoslav adds something Jasha's list of roles cannot capture: he remembers periods when they were nowhere at all, in a cold state between assignments. He visibly shudders at the recollection. These are memories the bugbears were not supposed to retain. Their account distinguishes an ongoing personal relationship from the changing family and hostile roles imposed on it. The fact that Jasha and Radoslav can compare contradictory pasts also makes their current identities more than the parts they have been given to play on this floor.
After the memories returned, a voice presented the bugbears with a choice. They could go back into the cold or enter the race, with freedom promised if they won fairly. Jasha qualifies the description of them as volunteers, and Radoslav makes plain why: defeat would at least end the cycle he remembers. Alevtina wanted more than an ending. She hoped to start a family after winning, perhaps with Radoslav; Jasha ruefully admits that she was more likely to choose Radoslav than him. The crash takes away the teammate most invested in the promised future while leaving Radoslav to compete for a prize he does not fully trust.
Team Free Love is presented on the tenth floor as a group of musicians. Radoslav tells Donut that he is supposed to play the pan flute, though he has never actually picked it up. Alevtina's instruments were bongos and tambourine, while Jasha sings and plays violin. The gap between Radoslav's assigned talent and his own experience is another small sign of how loosely the current presentation fits the person carrying it. He knows what role he has been given, but does not claim a performance history he lacks.
Life in the team roundabout
After the first heat, Radoslav and Jasha occupy a garage in the team roundabout at Hungry Eyes Village. Carl and Donut find them sitting outside in lawn chairs, with Jasha asleep beside a kiddie pool and Radoslav awake enough to call the crawlers over. He shares beer from a cooler that came with their van. It produces fresh cans, including a recurring supply of peach-flavored beer that Radoslav has trouble giving away. He offers Carl a regular beer when Carl declines the peach flavor, and also offers one to Donut. The everyday hospitality is significant because the teams remain competitors despite the safety of the roundabout.
Radoslav extends the same offer to Chiyome when she arrives with the other members of the Wild Hunt. The fox team's acrobatic display initially alarms Donut, but Chiyome later explains that it was a magical assessment of nearby rivals. Radoslav supplies her with several beers as she talks with Carl and Donut about the other teams. When Chiyome asks for something stronger, he explains the cooler's limits: it refills magically, returns to the van for races, and always includes the peach cans. His easy conversation with Chiyome gives the roundabout a temporary social life even while she is evaluating the teams as possible threats.
He likewise offers beer to the Lady Dominators when they emerge from a neighboring garage. Their intimidating arrival does not stop him from approaching them in the same manner as the crawlers and Chiyome. After they leave, he dismisses their behavior, while Chiyome warns that their domination magic makes them dangerous. The exchange shows both Radoslav's blunt judgment and the limit of his information about opponents. Sharing a drink does not mean that he knows their abilities or can make the race safe.
Survival through the heats
Team Free Love continues to finish races after Carl's improvised rescue. Its recorded placements improve from eighth in the first heat to third in the second, fourth in the third and fourth, and second in the fifth. These are team results, not a measure of Radoslav's individual driving or combat skill. They nevertheless establish that the bugbears are capable competitors. Their damaged van is repaired and altered as the heats proceed; by the fourth, it no longer runs on tires but floats just above the track. On the jungle course it can accelerate ahead of the other vehicles on that cushion of air.
The van still takes heavy punishment. After one race Carl sees it return with smashed windows, floating low enough to scrape the ground and throw sparks. Before another, Jasha and Radoslav work on last-minute repairs. During the fifth heat, their vehicle travels along the ceiling using a roof-mounted device. The succession of changes matters to Radoslav's survival: the team begins with a vehicle that has to be towed across the first finish line, then keeps adapting it for courses involving radically different terrain and hazards.
Radoslav's relationship with Carl and Donut also continues beyond the first rescue. After a violent crash during the third heat, Team Free Love stops near Carl's wrecked food truck, and both bugbears run toward it. Jasha pulls an unconscious passenger from the wreckage while Radoslav comes with him. Their response is a specific act of aid during a race in which every team still has its own survival at stake. Later, Jasha and Radoslav find Dwight stranded just outside a finish line and drag him across. Carl has misgivings about saving the unicorn, but the bugbears act before his uncertainty can settle the matter.
Repeated meetings in the roundabout keep Team Free Love close to Carl's group. The bugbears return to their lawn chairs and cooler between heats, and they speak with Osvaldo and Filipe as the field narrows. Carl's teams and theirs can cooperate, exchange warnings, and share supplies, but those interactions do not change the elimination rules. By the approach to the sixth heat, Carl looks at Jasha and Radoslav outside their garage without exchanging a wave. He has already used his Oozy Form to enter the roundabout covertly. The silence marks his knowledge that a confrontation may be coming, although the bugbears' precise knowledge of his plan is not established.
Elimination
During the sixth heat, Carl cannot tell whether his own team is safe from last place. He also needs to turn back to help Prepotente and Jurgen. To remove a competing team from the count, he detonates an explosive he had secretly planted in one of Team Free Love's peach-flavored beer cans. Earlier, Samantha distracted the two bugbears in the roundabout while Carl used Oozy Form to replace a can. He selected the peach flavor because the magical cooler returned to the van before each race, allowing the concealed charge to travel with them. The device was made difficult to detect even by someone who picked up the can.
The system announces Team Free Love's elimination because both racers have died. Radoslav and Jasha are killed shortly before their van reaches the finish line. This is not a duel between Carl and the bugbears, nor an accidental loss on the track. Carl deliberately uses a concealed bomb as a contingency against his own team's possible elimination. He recognizes the victims as friends and is distressed by the decision. Seeing the wrecked van afterward, Donut moves into his lap, and he holds her as they continue to the exit.
Radoslav's end closes the possibility raised when Carl first towed the van to safety. He wanted either the freedom promised to the race's winner or an end to repeated assignments. The narrative confirms his death and the team's elimination, but it does not confirm what happens to his consciousness afterward. His friendship with Carl is real in their shared encounters; the race rules and Carl's choice make it incapable of protecting him in the final heat they run together.
