The quest system is the dungeon's way of converting story into obligation. A quest can guide, tempt, trap, reward, or expose crawlers, and later books show that quest logic often hides deeper political or divine consequences. Quest System can be written as a story mechanic. The important question is not only what the system does, but what it forces characters to do. Dungeon rules shape routes, incentives, public behavior, alliances, and moral choices. They can look like neutral game design while actually serving sponsors, producers, divine factions, or the Syndicate economy. The article separates confirmed rules from inferred consequences. Confirmed rules belong in the overview. Examples and edge cases belong in continuity notes. Theories, unresolved questions, and later-book implications can be placed in a clearly marked detail review section.

Why it matters

Mechanics pages are some of the most important pages in the archive because they explain why the plot can move in a particular direction. Quest System may affect safety, rewards, visibility, movement, quests, faction pressure, or party coordination. A good article can show how the mechanic changes risk. If characters ignore it, what becomes more dangerous? If they learn to exploit it, what new strategic option opens?
