Miss Nadine

Miss Nadine is a former Chee kindergarten teacher who saves and raises six boys after high-elf violence and Scolopendra's transformation of their community. The original Nadine, changed into a giant caterpillar, dies during the Sixth Floor conflict. Edgar later reconstructs her as a tattoo, and she becomes a living Chee flesh golem after Signet's death. Nadine cares for young Chee carpenters before Queen Imogen's forces devastate their community. She saves six boys, including Clint and Holger, and raises them across centuries. Her work preserves language, family memory, and moral stability in circumstances designed to reduce survivors to quest pieces. High-elf and Scolopendra-linked forces transform Nadine into a giant caterpillar form. The body limits movement and cannot swim, yet she continues to organize and protect the boys. Her appearance is treated as monstrous by the interface while her behavior remains that of a teacher and parent. After several boys die, Nadine moves toward the river conflict despite her limitations. She fights Claude Sludgington the Fourth and is struck by lightning, exploding or being destroyed. The original caterpillar-bodied Nadine is explicitly killed. Edgar uses blood, ink, remains, and Signet's memories to create a Nadine tattoo figure. The process preserves personality and relational knowledge but is not ordinary resurrection. When Signet dies, the tattoo becomes a flesh golem with the appearance of a young Chee woman. The reconstructed Nadine resumes responsibility for the children on the Ninth Floor, including the child-form Clint. She survives Faction Wars and is transferred with the awakened NPC population toward the Twelfth Floor. Her article must record both facts: the original died, and a memory-continuous reconstruction is alive.
