Hellik

Hellik is a god, a brother and rival of Emberus, and the target of a compulsory church quest imposed on Carl. Hellik is initially treated as a leading suspect in the murder of Emberus's son Geyrun, although he possesses an apparent alibi and the murder remains unresolved. Carl must nevertheless ensure Hellik dies before the end of the Eleventh Floor or face a divine smite. Hellik belongs to the divine family that includes Emberus, Taranis, Eris, and the larger Apito lineage. Taranis is the older brother of Hellik and Emberus. The brothers' rivalry shapes temples, worshipper hostility, and quest rewards. Carl's Emberus affiliation marks Hellik worshippers on his map and doubles experience from killing them, while forbidding Carl from using Hellik-blessed equipment. Emberus directs Carl to discover who killed Geyrun and separately orders him to kill Hellik before reaching the Twelfth Floor. Hellik is the obvious suspect but reportedly has an alibi. The two commands are not logically dependent, which reveals that the death order is also an expression of family hatred. Carl risks a smite if he refuses, yet Emberus warns that completing the order may itself provoke divine retaliation. Ares warrior-clerics such as Potsy guard Hellik's temple network and automatically oppose Emberus worshippers. Their doctrine includes a stained-glass image they insist portrays Hellik bringing truth to Apito, even though its creator identifies the figure as Taranis. The dispute illustrates how religious certainty can override direct evidence inside the dungeon. Carl eventually speaks with Hellik and finds him less erratic than Emberus and several other gods. Hellik later names Carl, Katia, and Prepotente friends of his church and intervenes against Khepri. These actions complicate the required assassination. They do not cancel the quest timer or prove Hellik innocent of every divine conspiracy. The accelerated Eleventh Floor forces Carl to resolve the Emberus condition during the Parade of Horribles. Hellik dies before the floor ends, satisfying the deadline even as the deeper Geyrun case remains unsettled. His death is therefore both a tactical objective and the culmination of a deliberately coercive religious bind.
