Gustavo-3, usually called Gus or Gustavo, is one of Lucia Mar's two Rottweilers and the smaller counterpart to Cici. He is repeatedly identified as the more dangerous of the pair. Gustavo survives Cici's Sixth Floor death but is killed during Faction Wars after attacking Mongo. Gustavo enters the crawl with Lucia and Cici. Cici later grows to almost twice his size, but Lucia insists Gus is the worse dog. His numbered name is preserved as Gustavo-3 in the interface and indexes, while dialogue frequently shortens it. Lucia admits that both dogs attack when she sleeps or loses control. Gustavo kills other crawlers and mobs, and his behavior contributes to Lucia's player-killer reputation. The dogs may also be connected to the personalities, children, or Residual structure inside Lucia, so ordinary pet commands do not fully explain their actions. Outside the burning treehouse pub, Gustavo clamps onto Samantha's head and shakes her while Cici pursues Donut inside. He survives the encounter in which Donut decapitates Cici. Lucia's statement that the wrong dog died makes Gus an even greater unresolved threat. By the end of the Ninth Floor, Gustavo is Lucia's last dog. He attacks or nearly consumes Mongo during the final crisis. Rend intervenes and saves Mongo, killing Gustavo. Samantha's recap confirms the outcome after the floor. Gustavo's arc links Lucia's trauma to the danger she presents. He is loved as a companion, used as a weapon, and possibly functions as a vessel or trigger in a larger hidden system. His death protects Mongo but does not resolve the identities within Lucia.
