Geyrun

Geyrun is the murdered son of Emberus and the owner of Orthrus. His death is the subject of Carl's Emberus quest, which requires Carl to identify the killers and explain the motive. The mystery remains unresolved through Book 8. Geyrun is a divine family member connected to Emberus. Orthrus, a two-headed puppy, belongs to him and is later trapped in the Nothing. The animal's return supplies emotional evidence that the murder affected more than the god issuing the quest. Carl initially hears that Geyrun's uncle Hellik is the obvious suspect, but Hellik has an alibi involving a council session. Amayon claims to possess useful knowledge, and the four princes of Sheol remain possible participants. Samantha admits that she was present around the hiring or conspiracy and may have had an indirect or direct role, but her account is incomplete. Emberus demands the truth and threatens consequences if Carl fails. The quest cannot be solved responsibly by naming the most convenient enemy. Carl gradually suspects that one of the foundational details is false, which would make the apparent suspect list a deliberate trap. During a later arena crisis, Carl falsely accuses Khepri as part of a tactical attempt to move dangerous gods into position. He knows Khepri did not kill Geyrun and explicitly recognizes that the real mystery remains. The lie should not be repeated as a solved case. Geyrun is confirmed dead before Carl receives the quest. No resurrection or replacement is shown. His importance lies in the continuing consequences: Emberus's anger, Orthrus's displacement, Samantha's evasions, and Carl's obligation to uncover a crime embedded in divine politics.
