Eileithyia is a level 250 goddess of childbirth and female pain sponsored by Huanxin Jinx. Unlike many Ascendency competitors, she is characterized as compassionate and uninterested in taking the throne. Her plans on the Eighth and Ninth Floors help restore Yemaya and create a route for Katia to escape the Crown of the Sepsis Whore conflict. Eileithyia governs childbirth, its pain, and related forms of female suffering. Her powers can ease labor and grief rather than merely weaponizing the domain. Huanxin presents her as benevolent and not motivated by the throne, though participation in the Ascendency still requires political allies and votes. Huanxin Jinx, representing the Grixist Swarm and Icon Industries, sponsors Eileithyia. Sponsor and goddess cooperate closely but remain distinct identities. Huanxin's goal of restoring Yemaya advances Eileithyia's retainer network and the sponsor's future position. Eileithyia directs Carl's group toward Yemaya's damaged shrine in the Celestial Thorn Room. Repairing it brings her old friend back into active divine status. Eileithyia then grants a boon that improves healing speed and constitution and offers protection against spiritual possession. The recurring instruction to kill five spiders each day functions as a cover for divine messages and a workaround to restrictions on direct communication. The mundane task conceals strategic information while remaining enforceable as a quest. It is a characteristic example of exploiting literal system language. Eileithyia's network helps develop alternatives to forcing Katia and Donut to kill each other. Options involve extreme constitution changes, pregnancy-linked ejection, and transformation into a Celestial Attendant who can transfer toward the Twelfth Floor. Odette's acceptance as an adjutant and votes over protection settings become part of the plan. Eileithyia remains active and politically relevant through Book 8. Temporary floor invulnerability and sponsor access should not be confused with permanent immunity. Her ultimate Ascendency outcome is unresolved.
