Author Steve Rowland is a level 50 forest troll, male stripper, and later mercenary associated with the Desperado Club. He performs with a massive wooden club, joins Carl's expanded fighting force, and is pulled into Sheol by a crab portal during an Eighth Floor battle. Steve is a heavily muscled green forest troll with tusks and a tall black mohawk. He performs nude while spinning a wooden club like a majorette. The intentionally awkward stage name is repeatedly treated as part of the club's tradition of elaborate stripper identities. Bucket Boy collects the gold thrown during Steve's performances. Steve shares the Guild of Suffering elbow tattoo seen on Carl and other performers. He socializes with Samantha and Britney and remains part of the club community after the initial stage scenes. Steve enters the Mercenary Arcade with the other strippers, where repeated lethal training and regeneration improve their combat readiness. He refuses to abandon his club as a weapon. He later joins operations with Gluteus Maxx, Splash Zone, and Dong Quixote. Steve participates in the assault around the church and later fights during the crab and demon crisis. A crab seizes his arm and opens a portal to Sheol. Steve is pulled through screaming. The move removes him from the immediate card battle and employment area. Being transferred to Sheol is not the same as a confirmed death. Other characters survive or continue acting in that realm, while direct observation becomes difficult. No explicit later death notice for Steve appears through Book 8, so his fate remains unresolved rather than deceased.
